Miss Fancy’s Fashion

If I’m going to keep this up, I’ll need to invest in a better self-portrait method.  *smiles*  I felt all cute today in this floor-length purple dress from Charming Charlie, a braided purple belt from Francesca’s, and black 3/4 length sleeved black sweater from Talbot’s.

Donning the Mouse Ears Again!

If I have sucker written across my forehead, I wear it proudly.  After discussing my experiences with my first Disney half-marathon back in February, I convinced a colleague to sign up for a Disney run in November…so long as I signed up, too.

Me Scarf May 7 2013

I realize sometimes that my creativity comes out in my apparel.  For example, wearing my purple pants and colorful scarf places a brighter outlook on my day.  I enjoy experimenting with color and feel lost wearing black tops.  (Black pants are a staple, of course.)

I don’t see this as turning into a fashion blog; however, sometimes one just needs to show off their perceived creativity.  *smiles*

Edit: After writing this post, I may or may not have taken my lunch break to browse at Charming Charlie.  And may or may not have added to my scarf collection.

I’ve got a feeling!

I have an antsy energy that is nagging on my soul.  Do you know what it’s saying?

BE CREATIVE!

There are at least two types of creativity in my life.  One type belongs at the office but I don’t feel that creating a mind-blowing memo about council requirements satisfies that second type of creativity.

I want to dive into the second type that screams for a walk-around of Michael’s.  The one that upon seeing a blank journal widens its eyes beyond belief.  The type that when holding a camera wants to run outside and start snapping the shutter.

Do you ever feel that creative nag?  How do you satisfy it?

On the Verge

It is a strange feeling to walk into your place of employment not knowing if you’ll be back the next day.

All I know is that tomorrow morning brings about a conversation with my boss regarding my future with the company. This slice of knowledge leaves too many unanswered questions for a 24 hour period. My brain won’t shut-up and I can’t find an outlet to calm it down.

I’ve journaled. I’ve searched for words of wisdom online. I came close to begging my Facebook friends for their favorite calming mantra.

It isn’t as if I’ve not encountered the discontinuation of my job before, but this time I’m further along in my career and life and don’t foresee an easy transition. Of course, maybe I’m borrowing trouble.

“Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!”

As opposed to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with green beverages and corned beef and cabbage, I took to the streets of Atlanta with 8,742 of my closest friends and ran/walked/stumbled 13.1 miles.

The weather was perfect – slightly humid with a chill in the air.  And by the time the sun was up, we were running westbound.  Neighborhoods came out to cheer us on.  Friends were made on the course as we encouraged our fellow runners.  And for not having trained for this race, I’m happy with my time of 3:18:32.

Publix Half Bib and Medal

Right now, my next half-marathon isn’t until October but that could change if someone twists my arm.  *smiles*

Upcoming Publix Georgia Half-Marathon

Publix GA Half-Marathon

Alright, this coming Sunday is my next half-marathon adventure.  Here’s hoping that the luck of the Irish exists and pushes me across the finish line on my own two feet.  I’ll give a post-race report after the proper celebration.  🙂

Take Inspiration from Wherever You Find It

While processing new library books, I found these beautiful watercolor end papers in a book illustrated by Kathryn Brown, titled NORA’S CHICKS, written by Patricia MacLachlan.

“Chews” a Good Book

We’re constantly encouraging our students to read. I created this piece for a bulletin board in 2011. I did use clip art for the dentures.
